Hulu Plus launches for Xbox 360 tomorrow

And Xbox Live members (gold and silver!) will get a free week of it.

Now, there's so ways to watch TV without actually watching TV. You got Netflix, which you can order physical copies of DVDs. There's Hulu, who I've always known as a website provider of TV shows and movies. Then you have the major league sports which have their own live video broadcast, like nhl.tv or mlb.tv, for a price of course. You can even find streams to your favorite shows on places like Justin.tv!

So that being said, is there really any point of having a cable or satellite TV subscription anymore? I imagine it probably is cheaper buying Netflix or Hulu along with whatever sports you watch. And I would probably hop on the bandwagon too but my internet gets so slow at night I can't stream anything :(

What are you guys' thoughts? Do you have a TV subscription AND internet? Or internet and some kind of stream provider?

Stanley Cup Finals 4/26/11

So tonight we have [at least] two series that will come to an end.

                  VS

Philadelphia Flyers  vs Buffalo Sabres (Series Tied at 3-3)

                     VS

Chicago Blackhawks vs Vancouver Canucks (Series tied 3-3)
and Boston Bruins vs Montreal Canadiens  (Series 3-2 Boston)

If anyone is a big hockey fan, the first two pictured series have been epic, especially Canucks/Blackhawks. The Canucks (Western Conference winners) looked to easily sweep the Blackhawks by winning the first 3 games (best out of 7 so you need 4 to win), but Chicago won the last 3 forcing the deciding game 7.

Who do you guys think will win these match-ups tonight?

Gears of War 3 Beta is upon us

So today is April 25th, just another tired Monday of school/work/mundane tasks. Well you're wrong, because the GameStop preorders of Gears of War 3 beta start RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

Here is a list of challenges that are found in the beta:

  • Beta Tester Medal: Complete one match in the beta to unlock the Beta Tester medal, which will carry over to your gamer profile in the final game. The Beta Tester title will be featured in the "Gears 3" multiplayer lobby as well.
  • Thrashball Cole: Complete 50 matches in any game type to unlock the Thrashball Cole character variant in the beta. Once unlocked, complete 10 matches as Thrashball Cole during the beta and the character will carry over to your gamer profile in the final game.
  • Gold-Plated Retro Lancer: Show your ultimate "Gears of War" fandom by unlocking the Gold-Plated Retro Lancer. Complete 90 matches in any game type to unlock it for the beta, and score 100 kills with it once unlocked to carry the exclusive weapon skin over to your gamer profile in the final game.
  • Flaming Hammerburst: Complete one match by Sunday, April 24 and unlock this weapon variant.
  •  Flaming Lancer: Complete one match during the week of April 25 and unlock this weapon variant.
  • Flaming Sawed-Off Shotgun: Complete one match during the week of May 2 to unlock this weapon variant.
  • Flaming Gnasher Shotgun: Complete one match during the week of May 9 to unlock this weapon variant.
So who else is going to be playing today? I've been jonesin'  (I think the first time I've gotten use that phrase) for some Gears after the shitfest that was Gears 2. So far it seems like 3 is bringing back the kick ass!

Donald Brashear signs MMA contract

So if anyone if a fan of hockey, then you most likely have heard of NHL Enforcer Donald Brashear. This man compiled over 2600 PIMs in the NHL, along with 205 points. Here's a good fight of his to show you what he was all about:

Will he take the way Jose Canseco took in MMA? If you don't know, Jose did awful in his MMA showing although he had to fight Hong Man Choi who happens to be over 7ft tall. Brashear made his living getting punched in the face so he'll be used to that, it will be just interesting to see how he adapts his grappling and clinch work.

Apparently Brashear is a 2-1 amateur boxer under Joe Frazier. Other notable hockey enforcers to try MMA include
  • Steve Bosse and
  • Jon Mirasty
UFC Welterweight Champion GSP got to wrestle tough-guy Georges Laraque awhile back. Laraque, a 265lb NHL enforcer was simply outclassed by the 170lb (probably around 190lb) GSP then, and it goes to show you the skill differential between the two warriors.

Anyways, its an interesting situation and I will be following it.

Mixed Martial Arts results for Bellator 41

Featured Fights
Joe Warren defeated Marcos Galvao by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
Patricio Pitbull defeated Wilson Reis by TKO (Due to Strikes 3:39 Round 3)
Zack Makovsky defeated Chad Robichaux by TKO (Unanswered Strikes 2:02, Round 3)
Daniel Straus defeated Kenny Foster by submission (Guillotine 3:48, Round 3)

Fight Analysis

Straus vs Foster-  Daniel Straus, a man who prides himself on NOT finishing fights, finished Kenny Foster with a guillotine choke. Foster was the underdog in the fight, but both guys promised a war. After a good start in the 1st round for Foster, Straus started to find his grappling rythm, which lead to the late submission victory.

Zack Markovsky vs Chad Robichaux - Robichaux was the undefeated submission wiz coming into this fight, promising another exciting submission victory to his arsenal. The ever relentless Markovsky had other plans. Markovsky dominated the wrestling aspect of this fight, but the key points in that being able to pass Robichaux's guard into side control at will. Robichaux showed his great heart by surviving a fairly-tight Rear Naked Choke and an Arm Triangle that looked like it would surely end the fight. Markovsky did manage to get into mount and pepper Robichaux with a barrage of punches to end the fight by TKO.

Patricio Pitbull vs Wilson Reis - These two warriors had already fought once in their mixed martial art careers, with Pitbull winning by decision. However, Reis claimed he was a much better fighter than that of his past. Both men are BJJ black belts with knockout power, so this had all the makings of a good fight. Pitbull dominated the majority of the fight and ended up by a flurry of punches which KO'd Reis against the fence.

Joe Warren vs Marcos Galvao - MMA judging being what it is (shitty), this decision caused a lot of controversy. Not only was it obvious that Galvao won the first two rounds, but one judge scored the fight 30-27, meaning he had Warren winning all three rounds. Galvao managed to stuff and reverse Warren's takedowns early while trying some submission attempts. But the [self-proclaimed] "Baddest Man on the Planet" managed to last the fight.
