Indy 500 Fail

Did anyone hear about that crash that happened at the recent Indy 500 event? JR Hildebrand, after 799 laps, had a substantial lead going into the final lap. As he rounded one of the last corners, he crashes. Yes, all he had to do was finish one more turn and he would've won, but he crashed into the wall as everyone else passed him.

It seemed fitting that a National Guard car would win during Memorial Day weekend, but one quick mistake cost him the race. Check out the video:

UFC 130 - Results and GIFs

To be honest, a pretty lackluster event. The main event and a couple of other fights ended up being less than exciting, but I've seen worse cards.

Main Card (PPV)
Quinton Jackson defeats Matt Hamill via Decision (Unanimous) - Rampage stuff's ALL of Matt's takedowns while peppering him with shots afterwards. This is really the story of the fight.

Frank Mir defeats Roy Nelson via Decision (Unanimous) - Frank Mir also does a nice job stuffing Nelson's takedowns. It was obvious that Nelson was pretty much gassed at the end of the 1st, and he showed nothing impressive the entire fight.

Travis Browne defeats Stefan Struve via KO (Punch, 1st Round, 4:11) - Browne defeats Struve with an absolutely highlight reel KO. Struve once again takes another brutal knockout.

Rick Story defeats Thiago Alves via Decision (Unanimous) - Story grinds out a decision versus Alves, who only looked to find his groove in the 3rd round.

Brian Stann defeats Jorge Santiago via TKO (Ref Stoppage, Round 2, 4:29) - Stann shows another impressive KO against MMA vet Jorge Santiago. Santiago had nothing for Stann the entire fight.

Spike TV Prelims - gifs HERE

Demetrious Johnson defeats Miguel Torres via Decision (Unanimous)
Tim Boetsch defeats Kendall Grove via Decision (Unanimous)

Facebook Prelims - gifs HERE
Gleison Tibau defeats Rafaello Oliveira via Submission (RNC, Round 2, 3:48)
Michael MacDonald defeats Chris Cariaso via Decision (Split)
Renan Barao defeats Cole Escovedo via Decision (Unanimous)

TUF Season 13 Episode 9 - GIFs

 GIFs courtesy of ZombieProphet

Another good episode of TUF came on last night, and it was action-packed to say the least.

Chuck O'Neil (Team Lesnar) vs Zach Davis (Team Dos Santos)

Right from the start this fight is all Chuck. He lands his power punches at will on Zach, and while Zach said he was willing to stand and bang, he eventually was looking for the takedown. Chuck, however, stuffed his attempts and landed on top himself.

This is what Zach Davis ate the entire fight, and I'm not exactly sure how he managed to not get KO'd. His post-fight interview was grotesque, both eyes were badly damaged and the doctor said he couldn't fight anymore.

Tony Ferguson (Team Lesnar) vs Ryan McGillivray (Team Dos Santos)

This fight was the fastest knock-out on this season's TUF so far. Tony catches Ryan with a nice uppercut and Ryan ends up stumbling back and falling down, where Tony jumps on and lands a few punches before the referee steps in.

The House 'Fight'

The guys decide that after all this they want to drink, and pretty much everyone lets loose and is having a fun time. Well except for Tony Ferguson. Someone pours a drink on his head jokingly and Tony ends up tackling him and busting one of the furniture.

Charlie asks if Tony is serious and Tony looks like one of those douche-bag drunk guys waiting for a fight. Then he takes a cheap shot - he calls out Charlie and says "Where's your son at?". If you don't know the backstory to that, Charlie has lost his son's custody and is fighting to win money to get him back. At this point he is enraged, along with several others in the house who've had enough of Tony. Chuck is scheduled to fight Tony next episode, and he promises to end his dreams.

Asbestos, Quebec Canada

Has anyone heard of the deadly disease mesothelioma? It's a rare form of cancer that is usually linked to exposure to asbestos. Apparently back in the day, there were products made with asbestos and these workers in the plants would inhale the particles and later were found with lung cancer.

Now normally I wouldn't go this offtopic but I saw on the Daily Show that there is an actual town in Canada that produces asbestos fibers. This is astounding to me after seeing all the harmful effects that prolonged exposure to asbestos causes...

Here's a link to a clip from the Daily Show. I know its a satirical program but I thought it was pretty alarming, what do you guys think?

Duke Nukem Forever goes Gold!

After years of waiting to hear about the progress of Duke Nukem Forever, and I do mean years - the first advertisement for this was 1997!, it seems as though the Duke has finally gone gold. This means that development is nearing it's end and soon the full game with be released!

What's funny about this is that Duke was scheduled for release on May 3rd, but got delayed AGAIN till June. Hopefully it will be ready, because its time to kick ass and chew bubble gum..... and I'm all out of gum.

First 10 minutes of Dead Island

Has anyone heard of the game Dead Island? I'm pretty big on zombie games, and I've always wanted an open world zombie game for this generation of gaming.

I don't know how many of you guys saw the trailer for Dead Island, it was a somber trailer but untelling of how the game actually played.

Trailer:

And I hadn't heard much about the game until I saw a post linking to a gameplay demonstration of Dead Island, and I gotta say I'm impressed. For people who can't the video, it seems to blend in a FPS style of zombie shooter (like Left 4 Dead), with an open world RPG design. This seems like the game I have been waiting for!

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/to-kill-dead-island/714102 -
Check it out and tell me what you think! Also, what is your favorite zombie game to date? I would have to say mine is the 1st Resident Evil.

Bellator 45 - Results and GIFs

So a great season of Bellator has come to an end. But don't fret, another season will return next month on June 25th as Bellator starts its 5th season. I'll miss watching these at home.

Light Heavyweight Title
Christian M'Pumbu def. Richard Hale by TKO (Unanswered Strikes 4:17, Round 3)

I had a feeling Christian would win this fight, and in the 1st round he dropped Richard Hale. However, Hale recovered, using his long legs to ward off his aggressor.

The rest of the fight (up to the end) was involving Hale being the aggressor. Christian had the definite advantage in the striking but seemed to be hesitant. However, he landed again in the 3rd round and would not be stopped this time.

Finishing GIF here (Long load)

Featherweight Final
Patricio Pitbull def. Daniel Straus by Unanimous Decision [29-28, 30-27, 30-27]

Again, Daniel Straus is known as one of those wrestler types that likes to grind out decisions. He even prides himself on the fact that he beats up guys for 3 rounds (and doesn't finish them.). Patricio is the opposite, he's a heavy-handed striker that hits like a car, along with having a black belt in BJJ. This fight mostly consisted of Patricio controlling the cage with his striking while stuffing Straus's takedowns.

Straus attempts a hip toss but Patricio gets up using the 'whizzer.'

 Middleweight Qualifier
Sam Alvey def. Karl Amoussou by Split Decision [29-28, 29-28, 29-28]

Sam Alvey received a NASTY cut during the fight that was making him bleed like a stuck pig. Hope he had some health insurance for that!

Atlanta Thrashers moving to Winnipeg?

OK folks, there was a post on the globeandmail.com website stating that Steve Brunt was positive that the Thrashers were being dealt to Winnipeg. If you truly know anything about the Thrashers, you'll know they were always plagued by shitty owners who couldn't care less for the team.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/atlanta-thrashers-moving-to-winnipeg/article2029179/

Me being a hardcore Thrashers fan, this felt like an uppercut to the gut. Thrashers hockey was hockey that got me into the sport. It was something I never missed voluntarily.

Of course, there are conflicting reports, with Gary Bettman (NHL's owner) saying that no deal has been made. At this point though, the writing seems to be on the wall. And if this is truly the case, I don't know if I can truly get behind the NHL anymore.

I'd like to extend a big FUCK YOU Atlanta Spirit Group for destroying the Thrashers. Thanks for taking away a team I grew up with. Winnipeg fans, congrats on finally getting a team back. I can finally understand how you all felt when you lost your team.

TLDR: Thrashers look certain to move to Winnipeg and I felt like my heart got ripped out.

TUF Season 13 Episode 8 - Results and GIFs

So another decent episode of this season's Ultimate Fighter. The show definitely started slow but now we get to see more guys who are willing to actually finish fights!

So last night's episode featured two fights.

Clay Harvison (Lesnar) vs Ramsey Nijem (Dos Santos)
So Harvison showed some brass balls tonight. Not only did he dislocate (bone sticking out of skin) his finger and had his knuckle popped back in and stitched up, he's fighting a week later! Gotta give him props on that alone.

However, this is the quickest fight of the season. Ramsey ducks under Clay's punches and secures a double leg takedown where he gets Clay's back and eventually sinks the Rear Naked Choke in. Ramsey picks up the easy win.

Chris Cope (Lesnar) vs Shamar Bailey (Dos Santos)

I suppose this is one of those grudge matches. Apparently Chris was getting on Shamar's nerves and Shamar wanted this fight badly. However, Shamar demonstrated in his first fight that he was a completely one-dimensional lay n prayer. This entire fight consisted of Shamar shooting for a double and failing.

Chris Cope showed excellent takedown defense and ultimately picked up a unanimous decision win. There wasn't much he could do since Shamar literally did NOTHING but go for a takedown.

The next episode preview looked like tensions were high and there was almost a house fight. Should be an interesting one so tune into SpikeTV at 9:00 EST next Wednesday!

Thanks to ZombieProphet for the GIFs!

Sony in trouble again?

Ok, so it seems it couldn't get worse for Sony. They had their servers hacked and put offline while hundreds of thousands of customer's info like CC numbers were obtained. With the servers back online, and PSN users greeted to a 'Welcome Back' package, it seems all is well for Sony at the moment. Well except for this:

PSN website sign-ins disabled after users identify potential exploit

So apparently there was a sign-in exploit which let users recover other users password. I first saw this on a gaming forum called NeoGAF. Here was the post:

Now to the whole story:
This guy on twitter ( http://twitter.com/#!/Nyleveia ) was claiming there was an exploit on the password recovery page that allowed anyone with a matching PSN login address and Date of Birth could change your password without you confirming it. Personally I didn't believe him so I gave him my login and dob. He didn't reply for a long time so I went to sleep.

So this guy sent an email claiming an exploit on twitter, the user not believing him sent a message back into the morning.

The first one is saying that someone had requested to change my password, and that I needed to click the confirmation link to continue. All normal for now, supposedly only people with access to the login address can change it then. HOWEVER the second email is a confirmation that the password was changed and I never clicked the confirmation link... So yeah... my password was successfully changed by someone else.

Apparently Sony then tried to cover up by just pulling down the site without giving any maintenance.  I mean, cmon Sony, really?

Here's the NeoGAF thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=430574

RIP Xbox

The infamous 3 RROD

My Xbox died today. It has been giving me the constant 2 red rings (I know, not as bad as the 3 red rings!). Well I decided since it can't last more than 5 minutes without shutting off due to 'Poor circulation' according to the 2 red rings.

If anyone doesn't know, the 2 red rings indicates specifically that the machine is overheating. It shuts down the Xbox and if you restart your Xbox it will greet you with a small list of things to do to prevent overheating.

However, my Xbox has been doing this repeatedly, even after I've dusted it with an air duster and put it in better spots. I'm just going to ship to MS and have them fix it.

Should I just go ahead and buy a Slim? I hear the Slim is so much better than the original 360s, in terms of hardware cooling and noise, and its got built in wifi. What do you guys think?

So the nearly month long wait is over PSN users, so get back to that daily multiplayer you love. Apparently SOE is on the verge of being back online as well, meaning MMO lovers will get to go back to grinding again :D

Derek Boogaard found dead at 28

So a sad night yesterday for hockey fans. Probably one of the best enforcers in the NHL, Derek Boogaard, was found dead in his apartment.

Here's the link to the article, nobody is expecting foul play was involved but there is an investigation.

TUF Season 13 Episode 7 Recap

I usually wouldn't post the recaps to these shows but some gifs came out and I thought it would be good to do!

So in this episode it was the coaches challenge, where Junior had to face off against Brock in a football type course. Seeing as Brock tried out for the Minnesota Vikings, you'd think he'd have the advantage, but Junior came out on top with a pretty big lead. His win earned him $10,000 cash and $1,500 cash for all his fighters.

The fight tonight was Chuck O' Neil (Team Lesnar) vs Javier Torres (Team Santos)

Chuck was one of the better touted fighters, but lost to a triangle choke in his first fight in a very short time span, not getting to show off any of his skills. Javier was more of a grinder type (boring) fighter, he likes the cage clinch.

In the 1st round, there were a couple of wild exchanges in the 1st, both connecting with some punches. But mostly cage clinching and reversing, with some knees and punches thrown in.

Both guys get some encouragement from the Coaches, and come out for the 2nd round. Again, there are some wild exchanges in this round, but brief. Javier manages to get Chuck down off a trip from the clinch but Chuck is back up. Javier gets him down again and to his back, but Chuck manages to reverse and get on top.

The two fight over control, Javier trying to stay in half-guard while Chuck trying to pass. Finally, Javier scrambles but Chuck manages to control is head and secures a variation of the head and arm choke (this instance called a Darce Choke).

The series between Lesnar and Dos Santos is tied 4-4. Should make for some great upcoming episodes.
