Bellator 46 - Results and GIFs

 GIF source here!

Bellator had their 46th event on Saturday,  June 25th in Hollywood, Florida. This event was awesome and had some great finishes. Hope you guys enjoy!

Featherweight Quarter Finals
Pat Curran defeats Luis Palomino via Subson (Peruvian Neck Tie, 3:49, 1st Round) -
Seriously an awesome submission, variant of an arm-in guillotine.

Marlon Sandro defeats Genair da Silva Jr. via Split Decision

Nazareno Malegarie defeats Jacob Devree via Submission (Guillotine, 1:25, 3rd Round)-

This was an AWESOME display of grappling. Malegarie had 2 very tight guillotines in the fight but finally tapped out the wrestler Devree with the 3rd guillotine. There was a ton of submission attempts by Malegarie, and me being a huge fan of exciting grappling, I was loving it.
Malegarie attempting a heel hook, a submission that can heavily damage the knee.
The 3rd and final guillotine, a sweep to mount made this a quick finish.

Ronnie Mann defeats Adam Schindler via KO
( Punches, 4:13, 1st Round) -

Local Feature Fights

Dan Cramer defeats Josh Samman via Unanimous Decision
Alexandre Bezeera defeats Sam Jones via Submision (Triangle, 3:27, 1st Round)
Tony Johnson Jr defeats Derrick Lewis via Unanimous Decision
Jessica Aguilar defeats Carla Esparza via Unanimous Decision
Dave Baggett vs. Moyses Gabin

UFC: Live on Versus 4 - Results and GIFs

 GIFs source here

UFC: Live on Versus 4 was an AWESOME card on Sunday evening. Since Nate Marquadt got cut from the UFC, Barry vs Kongo became the main event... and what a main event it was.

Main Event: Pat Barry vs Cheick Kongo
If anyone didn't see this fight, check it out. Seriously, you would be doing an injustice to yourself. In perhaps the most SPECTACULAR comeback knock-out of all time, Cheick Kongo defeats Pat Barry via KO (punches). GIFs are amazing, but you really gotta watch this on video.

Nate Marquardt released by the UFC

In a bizzare turn of events, UFC welterweight/middleweight contender Nate 'the Great' Marquardt has been released from the UFC. Marquardt, (10-4 UFC, 31-10 overall) made weight for his upcoming fight today versus Rick 'Horror' Story.

According to UFC president Dana White, Marquardt has failed his medical tests and "he will no longer be in the UFC". White posted a short video on his twitter account (video here: http://www.tout.com/m/nsphwl), that left many wondering what had happened.

What makes this move so bizzare is that prior to his release from the UFC, Marquardt was ranked the #4 contender for his contender. Even more bizzare is that fact that he is cut literally HOURS before his next fight, and is one of the UFC's top fighters.

I'll keep you guys updated on the situation, it has everyone (including me) puzzled.

Team Fortress 2 to become F2P game

Sorry about the lack of updates recently guys, some IRL stuff has been dragging me down. Saw this last night and thought it was a pretty big deal.

In an interview with Team Fortress developer Robin Walker, the company seems to have decided to make the game completely free to play. He states that they have tried different pricing over the game's lifespan, including some periods of free-to-play, and says it fits the multiplayer component in the game's current state as Valve wants to grab as many users as possible.

TF2 already being one of the most popular PC shooters, I have no doubt that we will see a tremendous bump in activity from this announcement. In fact, go ahead and grab it now! http://www.teamfortress.com/freetoplay/

The game also just received a huge update called the 'Uber Update', and imo it's a fantastic shooter. If it's free you have no excuses to NOT have this game!

Strikeforce Heavyweight GP - Overeem vs Werdum results

Yesterday night Strikeforce held their 2nd part of the heavyweight tournament, and although the main event didn't live up to the expectations, the rest of the card was pretty solid.

Main Event
Alistair Overeem def. Fabricio Werdum via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

In this fight, you have the K-1 kickboxing champion versus the world class grappler. It was an odd fight however, because Overeem was getting outstruck by Werdum in the number of strikes, but kept trying to pull guard every time he got hit. Overeem was visibly gassed at the end of the fight, and I think most people's stock in Overeem fell pretty quickly.

Main Card (Showtime)
10:00 PM ET/PT
Josh Barnett def. Brett Rogers by Submission (arm triangle) at 1:11 in Round 2

Another stylistic match-up: the heavy handed Brett Rogers versus the catch wrestler Josh Barnett. Barnett had been caught using steroids 3 times, so this fight tonight really meant a lot. And he was completely dominate in the fight, using his takedowns and lateral drops to mount Rogers. He ended up in mount again in the 2nd round and finished up using the head and arm choke (arm triangle).

Jorge Masvidal def. K.J. Noons via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

This was a great fight with a lot of action. Masvidal had gotten name recognition over his street fight videos all over the web, and KJ for his boxing in MMA. However, Masvidal was definitely outstriking KJ, and even landed a flush head kick. KJ showed tremendous heart, but ultimately was bloodied and bruised at the end of the fight.

Daniel Cormier def. Jeff Monson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Cormier meets the 5'9" heavyweight in Monson's first Strikeforce appearance. This fight was about the takedown defense of Cormier and the stand up. He consistently peppered Monson with jabs and combos, all while negating any takedowns Monson was looking for. Monson also showed some great heart after getting rocked multiple times throughout the fight.

Chad Griggs def. Valentijn Overeem by TKO in round 1

Chad Griggs is one of these sluggers that can actually put on a good performance. And that he did again Overeem's older brother. Griggs used a lateral drop to bring Overeem into his side control, where he unleashed a flurry of ground n pound. Valentijn ended up tapping to strikes in round 1, leading many to question his heart and will.

Pictures from the Vancouver Riots

In a dominate win, the Boston Bruins easily handled the Vancouver Canucks in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 4-0. However, the taste of defeat was not all that was left for Vancouver, as some unruly fans and morons decided to trash the city.

In case anyone didn't know, the same thing happened in 1994, and you'd think that the city would have police set up to PREVENT this exact scenario from happening. A shameful day indeed.

Bruins win the Stanley Cup!

Zdeno Chara, Bruins captain, hoists the cup.

In a surprisingly one-sided game, the Bruins have brought the cup back to Boston. It was an emotional night involved for both teams, the Canucks getting so close the Cup but losing again and the Bruins winning.

Boston won the game 4-0, and some of the goals along the way were a bit ugly. And although some people are blaming Roberto Luongo (Canuck's goaltender), the same could be said for the Sedin brothers, whose role on the team is to provide that offensive firepower. Tim Thomas effectively shut down every offensive burst that the Canucks had, and stood on his head a couple of plays.

I personally was glad the Bruins won, they have a couple of guys on the team that I really like. Namely, Rich Peverley, who was a Thrasher player for about half of the season, before being traded to the Bruins.

Stanley Cup Finals: Game 7

If you follow hockey, you'll know that the deciding game between the Bruins and the Canucks will be tonight, and after a great season of hockey, I'm not ready for it to end :(

So I ask a simple question: Who do you have winning tonights game? The:

Boston Bruins or Vancouver Canucks?

I personally think Boston will win this. It seems weird to me how close the series is, but some of the win for the Bruins this series have been large margins. On the other hand, Boston is playing @ Vancouver, which could spell trouble for them. All in all, I'm just hoping for an entertaining game, and with the way these two teams have played, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

MMA bettor wins $51,547 off 12 fight parlay

For MMA, betting is can be pretty hard. Not only can anyone win with one punch or one submission, the judges are also known for producing controversial decisions.

An undisclosed bettor placed $200 on a 12 fight parlay on Bodog, and ended up with over $50,000! If anyone doesn't know what a parlay is, it's betting on multiple fighters to win, and if any of those fighters lose the parlay is over. This means he got every single fight for UFC 131 right.

So I guess the house doesn't always win ;)

UFC 131 - Results and GIFs

UFC 131 was held in Vancouver, and I thought it was a great night of fights!

Main Card (Live on PPV)

Junior Dos Santos beats Shane Carwin by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) - The story of this fight was JDS' speed and agility to overcome Carwin's slow but powerful strikes. He rocked Carwin early and I have to no idea how Carwin survived.

UFC announces all future main events will be 5 rounds

UFC president Dana White said that the promotion has decided that all main-event non-title bouts – whether on pay-per-view, Spike TV or Versus – will now be scheduled as five-rounders.

However, the adjustment will not apply to any currently scheduled bouts, such as UFC 133's Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis tilt, or UFC on Versus 5's Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle contest.

"From this day forward, as we speak right here, right now today, every fight that is a main event that is not a title fight will be a five-round fight," White said. "So all the fights that will be made from this day forward will be five rounds."

Pretty big news, considering most people were frustrated when a good main event was limited to 3 rounds, I'm glad they stepped it up, and I hope the UFC fighters will all train for 5 round fights.

Wii U mixed reactions

Evidently Nintendo's stock hit a 5 year low after the WiiU unveiling.

“There were high expectations from the new version of the Wii and this fell far short,” Yusuke Tsunoda, an analyst at Tokai Tokyo Securities Co., said by phone today. “People had expected to see something more at a big event like the E3, but there wasn’t really anything more than what’s already reported.”

Nintendo tumbled 5.7 percent to 16,930 yen at the close of trading in Osaka. More than 2.2 million shares changed hands, compared with a six-month daily average of about 720,000.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-06-08/nintendo-falls-amid-questions-whether-new-console-can-repeat-wii-s-success.html

It probably didn't help the fact that during the revealing of their new console, Reggie Fils-Aime showed some a video montage of what was supposed to be Wii-U footage, but in fact it was PS3/360/PC footage.
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/08/wii-u-third-party-sizzle-reel-composed-of-360-ps3-pc-footage/

However, on the positive side for Nintendo, it seems that the Wii U was the most popular line on the E3 floor, leading to believe that maybe the fans have trust that this console can live up to it's HD expectations.

What do guys think about the Wii U?

Meet the PS Vita

So Sony announced a new handheld console to be hitting the market, the PS Vita, and by the looks of it, it will be feature packed!

The PS Vita will be a PSP type mobile console featuring:
-Multiplayer chatting while watching videos/playing games
-WiFi or 3g connectivity
-Multi-touch screen
-Front and Rear Cameras
-Dual Analogs (YES!)
-PS3 integration

It was also priced at $249, which I think makes it a great buy for all the prospective features.

E3 Microsoft Photoshops

The first big day of the E3 expo was yesterday, and we got to see some good coverage on upcoming games. First, let me state how awful Microsoft's conference was. It was literally 80% Kinect kid games, and it looked like they didn't give two shits about the hardcore gamers.

There were also some funny camera shots of the people using Kinect, and even funnier GIFs and photoshops, enjoy!

I mean WTF is this?

TUF Season 13 Finale - NON-Submission of the Night

So the UFC usually rewards honors to 2 fighters for either Knockout of the Night, or Submission of the Night. Well if you saw the Jeremy Stephens fight vs Danny Downes, you might make a case for non-submission of the night. Just take a look at these pictures...that is a about as far as a Kimura (shoulder lock) will go without making someone tap.

And he DIDN'T tap. Crazy.

TUF Season 13 Finale - Results and GIFs

Another season of The Ultimate Fighter has come to an end, and it looks like Tony Ferguson will move on and get the 6 figure contract. Look out for next season though, as Michael 'The Count' Bisping takes on Jason 'Mayhem' Miller!

Main Card (SpikeTV)

Tony Ferguson def. Ramsey Nijem via TKO (punches) - Round 1, 3:54 - Ramsey had a great chance during this fight, he attacks with punches in punches and has good wrestling. However, Tony is the one who lands a flush left hook KOing Ramsey.

Clay Guida defeats Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) - Guida picks up the boring win here via 'Clay N Pray'. I'm not sure how this guy is a fan favorite considering he ALWAYS lays n prays. Pettis was relentless from the bottom throwing up sub attempt after sub attempt however due to the shitty rules Guida wins.

Duke Nukem demo released to First Access members

Yup, a obtainable asset of DNF is finally here, pretty crazy to hear that. Wondering how to get that first access... access?  You'll need to head on over to the First Access Club and enter your Access Code from either your Borderlands Game of the Year Edition box or Duke Nukem Forever pre-order. PC users will then receive an access code to obtain the demo through Steam.

A DNF demo impression thread is on NeoGAF if anyone wants to check it out before pre-ordering for the demo/buying the game, and some people are giving it a rough ride!

TUF Season 13 Episode 10 - Results and GIFs

Last night on TUF were the two semi final fights that determined who would be fighting on SpikeTV's TUF finale this Saturday. And rest assured, they were two very good fights.

Ramsey Nijem (Team Dos Santos) vs Chris Cope (Team Lesnar)

Chris Cope has been sort of the underdog this entire season, with everyone now realizing he could be a dark horse contender. He's kind of like Forrest Griffin, jack of all trades but a master at none, although he does have great takedown defense.

In this fight, Ramsey did a good job mixing between his striking and his takedown attempts. He was unsuccessful in fully taking Chris down in the entire fight, seeing as Chris popped back up after a takedown, but it kept Chris at bay. His striking was also more accurate.

He is constantly putting pressure on Cope the entire fight until he scores a combination that sends Cope to the matt and forces the ref to intervene. Ramsey picks up the TKO win.

Chuck O'Neil (Team Lesnar) vs Tony Ferguson (Team Lesnar)

This whole fight was supposed to be a grudge match for Chuck, after seeing how Ferguson acted when he was intoxicated. However, Chuck was never really in this fight, Ferguson was a crisper and faster puncher and spent 2 rounds softening up Chuck before dropping him in the 3rd round. Tony Ferguson wins by TKO.
