UFC President, Dana White, addressed the fans over Twitter:<br />
<blockquote> <blockquote> I just land in NYC and what do I always say!? I have to deal with bad shit everyday!! GSP is out with an injury!!! It's GSP'S knee. We will sit Carlos to wait for GSP. It's looking so far like he could be ready in a couple months. Still early to tell tho</blockquote></blockquote>I was looking forward to this, (mainly because of how exciting Condit is), so I'm a little bummed. However, the UFC 137 card should be wicked anyways. Speculation is out if the Diaz vs Penn will be 5 rounds or not.Zachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02520647224690442309noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833511763777390039.post-8207421690644457712011-10-16T17:48:00.001-04:002011-10-16T17:49:07.983-04:00Kimbo Slice's 2nd professional boxing matchKimbo Slice had a rough time with MMA, mainly his conditioning and ability to take leg kicks. It seems boxing will be his combat sport in the mean time, and he's started off strong with two KOs in his first two fights, hope this second guy has medical insurance cause he got face-planted KO'd. Not to say his opponents are top quality, but he's still fun to watch.<br />
<br />
Here was his first fight:<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">If you didn't know already, the UFC decided to test out a new start time - 9PM EST, and ran with it for 8 events. It seems the test is over because they have announced that it will resume back to it's old time, with the prelims starting at 9pm and the main card at 10pm.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Since I'm an east-coaster I'm kinda bummed out, I enjoyed the early start time because it meant more sleep for me on Sunday. <b>Frankie Edgar def. Gray Maynard via TKO - Round 4, 3:54</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Wow, what can I say about this fight, what an amazing comeback by Frankie Edgar. He got teed off in the 1st round, bringing back memories of their 2nd fight, but managed yet again to come back in the 2nd, 3rd, and finally end it in the 4th round. Maynard injured Edgar yet again in the 1st, and couldn't finish it. The 2nd round he kind of just coasted while letting Frankie recovery from his injuries. Then in the 4th round Frankie catches Maynard with a hook that sends him to the canvas, and follows up with some ground and pound.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QxYwogzdKSc/TpETeKYJbcI/AAAAAAAAFX4/jRNNxWoOa6s/s1600/1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QxYwogzdKSc/TpETeKYJbcI/AAAAAAAAFX4/jRNNxWoOa6s/s1600/1.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nIi4b90Qjag/TpETgpjgArI/AAAAAAAAFYA/DEgT2SjLLcY/s1600/3.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nIi4b90Qjag/TpETgpjgArI/AAAAAAAAFYA/DEgT2SjLLcY/s1600/3.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2qIoHppgU10/TpEW_0As4zI/AAAAAAAAFYc/TNLVmuE6x3M/s1600/10.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2qIoHppgU10/TpEW_0As4zI/AAAAAAAAFYc/TNLVmuE6x3M/s1600/10.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<b>Jose Aldo def. Kenny Florian via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46)</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">I'm going to be honest, I was expecting an exciting fight between two hard hitting fighters but what I saw was a boring gameplan employed by Florian to try to go for takedown after takedown. Nothing noteworthy really from the fight, so I'll the save the GIFs. This was yet another failed contender fight for Kenny, I wonder what the future holds for him.<b> </b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b></b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><br />
Chael Sonnen def. Brian Stann via submission (arm-triangle choke) - Round 2, 3:51</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Chael came in and worked his gameplan almost immediately, coming at Stann and securing the takedown. We all knew Stann had problems with wrestlers in the best, and he was facing one of the best wrestlers in MMA. Sonnen worked some ground n pound in the 1st round, and did the same in the 2nd until he saw the opening for the arm triangle choke. He made the fight look very easy, as Stann had nothing for him.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2266_aKqO3Q/TpEDs3fJroI/AAAAAAAAFW4/K5x5NfZraZg/s1600/6.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2266_aKqO3Q/TpEDs3fJroI/AAAAAAAAFW4/K5x5NfZraZg/s1600/6.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b></b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Nam Phan def. Leonard Garcia via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b> </b>Like everyone expected, this was a slug-fest and a brawl. Leonard actually looked pretty technical up until the later rounds, but Nam Phan was working the body really well. Luckily Phan wasn't robbed like in his last fight. <b> Joe Lauzon def. Melvin Guillard via submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 1, 0:47</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Talk about an explosive fight. I think Lauzon was the huge underdog here since Melvin has been on a tear, and his striking is underrated. As you know from my previous TUF post, Mayhem won the first fight giving his team the next fight match up. The match up would be Johnny Bedford versus Josh Ferguson. Ferguson brought out a sign that said "F you Bedford", which apparently incensed Johnny.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lYrE1BscXvg/To0bJgjjwTI/AAAAAAAAFOY/_1xV1PedJpA/s1600/weign+in.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lYrE1BscXvg/To0bJgjjwTI/AAAAAAAAFOY/_1xV1PedJpA/s1600/weign+in.gif" /></a></div><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
The filler content for the episode did bring some drama. Akira, who I guess will now get credit for being the prankster in the house, was apparently getting everyone's nerves, eventually pissing off one of the fighters who had a heated conversation.<br />
<br />
Another heated moment was Marcus Brimmage sparring with a couple of guys. When you spar, you tend to go 60% or around, and you can tell when guys pick up the pace and start getting aggressive. Marcus and Akira got aggressive, and then another one of Bisping's fighters got into with him.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R8_UvmFlthw/To0cfLKOdDI/AAAAAAAAFPc/R-J2SzMt4WA/s1600/far1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R8_UvmFlthw/To0cfLKOdDI/AAAAAAAAFPc/R-J2SzMt4WA/s1600/far1.gif" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <b>Johnny Bedford vs Josh Ferguson </b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Round 1</span>: This was a pretty tame fight compared to the other fights on the house. Ferguson definitely had the better stand-up even with the height and reach difference. However, Bedford was able to bring the fight down on the ground at will, and almost caught Ferguson in an armbar.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

Another free card put on by the UFC, and it was a good one. If you can tell from the preliminary fighter results, there were some amazing finishes there, and I actually even enjoyed those better than the main card. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b style="color: #cc0000;">Main Event</b></span><br />
<b>Dominick Cruz def. Demetrious Johnson via unanimous decision (50-45, 49-46, 50-45) - </b><br />
You know what, I gotta be honest here. I do not enjoy watching Cruz nor Johnson fight. It seems neither have the ability to finish fights, and to me that takes out a lot of excitement. The fight pretty much was about Cruz's takedowns, as the quickness of Johnson proved to throw off Cruz. Cruz had a chance to end it with a RNC or neck crank type of submission but Johnson willed out of it. Apparently Cruz fought with a broken hand, so he'll be needing some of that UFC insurance.<br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="color: #e06666;"><b>Main Card (on Versus):</b></div><b>Stefan Struve def. Pat Barry via submission (triangle choke) - Round 2, 3:22</b><br />
I think a lot of fans were anticipating this fight, the shortest UFC HW versus the tallest in the roster. Many believed Barry would chop down Struve with the leg kicks and then get the KO later. Well, he did rock him a couple of times, but his lack of experience in the ground game would be his demise. He was in side control when Struve regained guard and also a triangle choke. Barry tried a massive slam, ala Rampage, but it only furthered the choke.<br />

<b>Anthony Johnson def. Charlie Brenneman via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 2:49</b><br />
Charlie Brenneman was riding some hype after his win over Rick Story. As we all know however, Anthony Johnson is probably the 'biggest' welterweight in the UFC, and it translate to huge striking power and wrestling. He made short work to stuff Brenneman's takedowns and landed a huge head kick. Charlie was protesting but I feel if Rumble Johnson had followed up he would've maimed Brenneman.<br />

<b>Matt Wiman def. Mac Danzig via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This was a fight that was an anticipated rematch, Mac Danzig on the losing end of their last fight. When I say losing end, however, I mean it was a bad referee stoppage. The ref thought he was passed out from a guillotine and he wasn't, but he fight was stopped. This fight was a classic brawl/slugfest, with Wiman pretty much out slugging Danzig for the close win.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YLJL4U0L5mA/TofBuD8X-dI/AAAAAAAAFKM/kDmsnBNAqtM/s1600/6.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YLJL4U0L5mA/TofBuD8X-dI/AAAAAAAAFKM/kDmsnBNAqtM/s1600/6.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iAbt83tOV9A/TofBz9d7MBI/AAAAAAAAFKc/ZHZ6QiWpn38/s1600/9.1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iAbt83tOV9A/TofBz9d7MBI/AAAAAAAAFKc/ZHZ6QiWpn38/s1600/9.1.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I say official because in the first episode, all the fights were to determine who could get into the house. Today's episode was about picking team's, and of course, both coaches thought that they both got the better of the fighters. Apparently Bisping was confident that all of Mayhem's picks would be just fodder for his picks. <br />
<br />
Michael Bisping got the first fighter pick, giving Mayhem the right to pick the first fight. The fight that was picked was <b>Bryan Caraway(Team Mayhem)</b> vs <b>Marcus Brimage(Team Bisping)</b>, a classic striker versus grappler match-up, credit to Mayhem's grappling background. <br />
<br />
The middle segments of the show just showed the guys getting comfortable in the house and Mayhem's team playing a prank on Bisping's team, insuring some drama. There was also an injury during practice, good thing even the TUF guys get that great insurance!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><b>Bryan Caraway(Team Mayhem)</b> <b>vs</b> <b>Marcus Brimage(Team Bisping) - Carrway via RNC (2nd Round)</b> </div><div style="text-align: left;">After these two were picked, they had sort of a show-down at the weigh-ins. I'll give credit to Bisping's team, they tried to play the mind game and piss Caraway off with an immature song, and it worked, but perhaps in Caraway's favor. Then Brimage gave a pretty laugh-worthy scream right in Caraway's face at the end, insuring a heated fight.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Caraway's gameplan was simple, get it to the ground and finish it there, he didn't want to give credit to Marcus' striking. He would no doubt have to use some of that insurance if he wanted to stand and bang with Marcus. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>1st Round</b>: Caraway gets the take-down on Marcus and ends up on his back the entire round, trying to get a RNC but with no success.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qUWVawvC1rM/ToPgRUwLfUI/AAAAAAAAFGc/q3x1lTZR29A/s1600/F3.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qUWVawvC1rM/ToPgRUwLfUI/AAAAAAAAFGc/q3x1lTZR29A/s1600/F3.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>2nd Round</b>: Both guys seem pretty winded, and the fight seems to turn to Marcus who lands a good knee and couple of punches, all while stuffing Caraway's takedown attempts. Caraway finally gets a takedown, winds up on top, and sinks in a fast RNC that gets him the win.</div><br />

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson via submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 4, 1:14</b> </div><div style="text-align: center;"> Jon Jones is one of those kind of guys that comes around every decade or so. He has never been taken down in the UFC, and he has amazing striking accuracy and takedown accuracy. He has 1 loss on his record, which was a DQ of Matt Hamill. Many wondered if Rampage could be the one to 'test' Jone's chin. Well lets just say this was one of the most methodical and dominant fights in a UFC championship fight. Jones picked him apart with leg kicks and from the clinch, and finished off with a RNC.<br />

Matt Hughes is a living legend for the sport, but I gotta be honest, Koscheck was a very, very bad match-up with him. Koscheck has better hands and arguably better MMA wrestling (maybe not in Matt's prime though), with Matt being better at GnP and submissions. Hughes has also been in a ton of fights, the most in the UFC, and it has surely taken it's toll on him. While he looked good early in the fight, Koscheck landed a punch that sent him down, and followed up with some big punches to get the KO.<br />

<b>Mark Hunt def. Ben Rothwell via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 30-27)</b><br />
If you had told me Mark Hunt would put up a competitive fight with Ben Rothwell I would've chuckled. If you had told me he would attempt and almost finish an armbar and eventually win the fight, I'd call you crazy. Well that's exactly what Mark Hunt did. It looks like he took his training very seriously and won in a dog fight against Rothwell.<br />

<b>Nate Diaz def. Takanori Gomi via submission (armbar) - Round 1, 4:27 </b><br />
At one point in his MMA career, many fans thought Gomi was the best lightweight in the world. He was an exciting fighter who had some heavy hands. His UFC stint has been pretty lack luster though, and Nate Diaz made a stamp on that. Diaz started out rocking Gomi with the infamous Stockton style of boxing, and finished him off with some beautiful chain submissions.<br />

<blockquote><blockquote>Dan Henderson and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua have verbally agreed to face off at UFC 139 on Nov. 19, MMAWeekly.com has learned. </blockquote></blockquote><blockquote><blockquote>Independent sources confirmed the fight, which will stand as Henderson’s return to the organization after defeating Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko in Strikeforce.</blockquote></blockquote><a href="http://mmaweekly.com/shogun-rua-tabbed-to-welcome-dan-henderson-back-at-ufc-139">http://mmaweekly.com/shogun-rua-tabbed-to-welcome-dan-henderson-back-at-ufc-139</a><br />

This will be another return to the UFC for Henderson, who is coming fresh off his KO victory of Fedor Emelianenko. Dan has fought for the UFC before, but signed with Strikeforce after failed negotiation offers.<br />

I don't know about any of you guys, but I am STOKED for this fight. I also felt really bad for Shields because his dad died 3 weeks before this fight. IMO, Shields is way undersized at 170 (no idea why he decided to drop down), he needs to beef back up to 185.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GtGuTqxVo4c/TnVfMehcHDI/AAAAAAAAE7U/zbrzxoOrWPQ/s1600/1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GtGuTqxVo4c/TnVfMehcHDI/AAAAAAAAE7U/zbrzxoOrWPQ/s1600/1.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b></b></div><a name='more'></a><b> </b><b style="color: #990000;">Main Bouts (On Spike TV)</b><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">This was pretty bad. Both guys decided to just jab and throw the occasional power punch once in awhile. The action didn't pick up until the 3rd round when Yang rocked McGee with a left.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dDuUAEzBZ4M/TnVauPb0JlI/AAAAAAAAE7A/Y5v6pJmDtxk/s1600/3.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dDuUAEzBZ4M/TnVauPb0JlI/AAAAAAAAE7A/Y5v6pJmDtxk/s1600/3.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
-<b>Erik Koch def. Jonathan Brookins via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)</b>-</div><div style="text-align: center;">What to say about this fight.... it SUCKED. It was awful. Brookins only gameplan was to try to stall against the fence. Koch was the far superior striker and showed great takedown defense as Brookins spent the ENTIRE fight trying to take him down via the cage. Too bad that didn't impress the judges, as Koch won. I think this was one of the few times that I have been thrilled with the judging. No gifs because of how bad the fight was.<br />

The card was stacked full of quality grapplers like Roger Gracie, Jacare Souza, Antonio Silva, and Josh Barnett. Well let's just say there were a few upsets.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: red;">Main Event</span></span></b></div><div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Josh Barnett defeats Sergei Kharitonov via Submission (Arm-Triangle) Round 1 -</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">What can I say about this fight? Sergei is known for his heavy handed strikes and Sambo background, while Barnett is known for his catch wrestling style. Barnett made this look too easy, with a trip takedown to full mount, finishing off with an easy arm triangle. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9rr8OPPVouo/Tmw_4mZQlnI/AAAAAAAAE34/kxc9YX0cTW4/s1600/11111.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9rr8OPPVouo/Tmw_4mZQlnI/AAAAAAAAE34/kxc9YX0cTW4/s1600/11111.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tWbWcCDX2w4/Tmw_94JiioI/AAAAAAAAE38/KH--c5fd8YM/s1600/22222.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tWbWcCDX2w4/Tmw_94JiioI/AAAAAAAAE38/KH--c5fd8YM/s1600/22222.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b style="color: #cc0000;">Main Card (Televised on Showtime</b><br />
<b>Daniel Cormier defeats Antonio Silva via TKO (Strikes) Round 1</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Now this was probably the upset of the night, Daniel Cormier is a rising prospect coming in on short notice to replace Alistair Overeem. Silva's last fight was a complete domination of Fedor Emelianenko, so a lot of people were counting Cormier out. Cormier showed some heavy hands and KO's Silva in the 1st round after dropping him.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Ci4DODMCVk/Tmw8Bh77PdI/AAAAAAAAE3o/E82cxR4qZII/s1600/1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Ci4DODMCVk/Tmw8Bh77PdI/AAAAAAAAE3o/E82cxR4qZII/s1600/1.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0xE5BsAEyjA/Tmw8GesJpsI/AAAAAAAAE3w/soFbtPPP1WM/s1600/3.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0xE5BsAEyjA/Tmw8GesJpsI/AAAAAAAAE3w/soFbtPPP1WM/s1600/3.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<b> Luke Rockhold defeats Ronaldo Souza via Unanimous Decision</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Rockhold was a relatively unknown fighter facing the Strikeforce MW Champion in Jacare Souza. Rockhold proved to be the upset with his superior striking and takedown defense. He got tagged a couple of times in this fight, but he wins the decision being the more aggressive and active fighter. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KZLPWaFykHs/Tmw1bwuXMpI/AAAAAAAAE24/Yus4DwrBiTc/s1600/3.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KZLPWaFykHs/Tmw1bwuXMpI/AAAAAAAAE24/Yus4DwrBiTc/s1600/3.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0Bk7xXgvUVY/Tmw1gQm3cEI/AAAAAAAAE3A/g-muW45d0LI/s1600/5.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0Bk7xXgvUVY/Tmw1gQm3cEI/AAAAAAAAE3A/g-muW45d0LI/s1600/5.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ujg5woBB-Fs/Tmw1zRuvPVI/AAAAAAAAE3c/8PT8_H3lPXc/s1600/12.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ujg5woBB-Fs/Tmw1zRuvPVI/AAAAAAAAE3c/8PT8_H3lPXc/s1600/12.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<b> Muhammed Lawal defeats Roger Gracie via TKO (Strikes) Round 1</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Roger Gracie is probably the best BJJ guy ever to enter the MMA world. However, it's been shown time and time again that you must be well-rounded to succeed in the long run. Roger showed his poor striking and clinch ability and was put to sleep fairly easily, giving him his first loss.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Zxj4Ah9CZrg/TmwqZ9BzJBI/AAAAAAAAE2k/lEQDv2E8y28/s1600/1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Zxj4Ah9CZrg/TmwqZ9BzJBI/AAAAAAAAE2k/lEQDv2E8y28/s1600/1.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<b> Pat Healy defeats Maximo Blanco via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) Round 2</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Maximo, although very wild and exciting with his strikes, looked way under-sized in this fight, leading the much bigger Healy to constantly get the crucifix position and eventually a modified choke.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tCmc_9KKzSU/TmwnXORbB3I/AAAAAAAAE2U/xwEz3zw_864/s1600/3.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tCmc_9KKzSU/TmwnXORbB3I/AAAAAAAAE2U/xwEz3zw_864/s1600/3.gif" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AaX9ZHLyFGQ/TmwnjrFGbAI/AAAAAAAAE2c/RqZjyOrgPK8/s1600/5.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AaX9ZHLyFGQ/TmwnjrFGbAI/AAAAAAAAE2c/RqZjyOrgPK8/s1600/5.gif" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b> </b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<blockquote><b>Shortly after he booted Nick Diaz from a title fight with UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre</b>, UFC president Dana White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that reporters would "flip out" if they knew whom he was putting opposite B.J. Penn, whose original opponent Carlos Condit was promoted to meet St-Pierre. </blockquote><blockquote>And considering the past 48 hours, White is not too far off the mark. </blockquote><blockquote>The UFC president today tweeted that <b>Diaz (25-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) has been re-booked to meet Penn (16-7-2 MMA, 12-6-2 UFC) in the co-main event of UFC 137</b>, which takes place on Oct. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.</blockquote><br />
It was a very bizarre turn of events, Diaz failed to show up to the 1st UFC 137 press conference and refused to show up for the 2nd one, leaving an angry Dana White to remove Nick Diaz off the card. Well it turns out now Diaz is back on the same card.... just fighting a different opponent. I have no idea why he's back on the main card but I guess its a good match-up.<br />
<br />
Carlos Condit is now slated to fight GSP, which I'm looking forward to. GSP is very boring to me, and Condit on the other hand could bring a tough fight to him. Still, I have GSP winning by a 5 round decision.Zachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02520647224690442309noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833511763777390039.post-23897124868727645872011-09-06T15:41:00.004-04:002011-09-10T14:00:37.218-04:00Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem confirmed for Dec 30<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://mmavalor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Brock_lesnar-vs-Alistair_Overeem-279x200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" src="http://mmavalor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Brock_lesnar-vs-Alistair_Overeem-279x200.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://mmastreamed.com/wp-content/uploads/mvbthumbs/img_34549_brock-lesnar-vs-alistair-overeem-ufc-140.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />
</a></div>In a big reveal today, Dana White has announced that former UFC HW Champion Brock Lesnar will be set to fight K-1 Kickboxing Champion, Dream HW Champion, and Strikeforce HW Champion Alistair Overeem.<br />
<br />
Overeem is coming off the win of Fabricio Wedrum and Lesnar off a loss of current UFC HW champion Cain Velasquez.<br />
<br />

</a></b> <br />
<b>Brock Lesnar will return to the UFC octagon in a five-round main event Dec. 30 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, facing newly signed former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.</b> </div></blockquote><blockquote><div class="entry-body">"Brock is a big name, a dangerous guy, and this is a dream matchup," Overeem told The Times on Tuesday, just after signing a standard UFC fight contract in the office of Chairman Lorenzo Fertitta. "Brock's a big guy, an exciting wrestler with his takedowns.<br />
"I want to see this fight myself. Overall, I'm a different fighter. A striker, athletic, big. These are going to be two big trucks going at it on a collision course."<br />
<b>The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Overeem, 31, is a former K-1 kickboxing champion too, He most recently defended his Strikeforce belt in June with a unanimous decision over takedown specialist Fabrio Werdum, who had previously defeated Fedor Emelianenko.</b> </div></blockquote><blockquote><a href="http://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=6833511763777390039&postID=2389712486872764587&from=pencil" id="more" name="more"></a> Lesnar has been out of action since losing his UFC heavyweight belt to Cain Velasquez in October at Anaheim's Honda Center, suffering a return episode of the intestinal ailment diverticulitis. The Dec. 30 winner will be first in line to fight the winner of a Nov. 12 fight between Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.<br />
"This is the fight the fans want," UFC President Dana White said. "Both of these guys are monsters. Can Lesnar take Overeem down?"<br />
Fertitta said the Strikeforce belt won't be part of the promotion. The UFC has purchased Strikeforce. </blockquote><blockquote>"Our thinking when we bought Strikeforce was to give fans the fights they want," Fertitta said. "Obviously, Alistair's one of the best heavyweights in the world, but he also has that 'it' factor -- the tremendous look, he's huge. It's a star factor."<br />
Overeem said he's exploring setting up training headquarters in Los Angeles</blockquote><br />
If you think about, Overeem really deserves a higher ranking fighter but I'm positive this fight will have some massive PPV numbers.Zachhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02520647224690442309noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833511763777390039.post-91376207029248100302011-09-04T13:28:00.000-04:002011-09-04T13:28:25.091-04:00ONE Fighting Championship - Results and GIFsSo the OneFC had it's first MMA promotion with some big names on the card, and man was it great. As if having the UFC on FOX isn't a big deal in itself, Dana White alluded to a big announcement yesterday, to be shown at 1PM EST detailing the fighters for FOX's first card. It will be headlined by none other than current UFC HW champion Cain Velasquez, who will be fighting top ranked contender Junior Dos Santos.<br />
<br />
The fight will be shown during a one hour special with FOX, the event being called UFC on FOX 1.<br />
<br />

Also, for those interested: OneFC - a Singapore based MMA promotion will be holding a quite stacked card Saturday, September 3rd. There will be champion boxers, muay thai specialists, BJJ artists, judokas, etc. A couple of notable names includes Andy Wang (TUF contestant), Phil Baronia (UFC Vet), and Yoshiyuki Yoshida (UFC Vet).<br />
<br />
A free stream will be available at Sherdog.com at 7 AM EST time.
