UFC Main Event Curse?

In the past we've all been treated to some nice UFC cards, especially UFC 132. However, I can't help but notice that there seems to be some kind of injury or health related curse that has fallen on the sport. Here's a look at some of the main events that have been cancelled recently.
  • UFC 128: Shogun vs Evans - Rashad Evans injures his knee, Jon Jones (now LHW champion) steps in versus Shogun
  • UFC Fight Night 24: Ortiz vs Nogueira - Tito Ortiz receives a severe cut on his forehead during training and has to pull out from his fight. Phil Davis steps in and wins.
  • UFC 130: Edgar vs Maynard III - Both Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard are injured and pull out. It looks like the co-main event Rampage vs Thiago Silva will become the main event but THEN Silva gets injured. The event is then headlined UFC 130: Rampage vs Hamill.
  • UFC 131: Lesnar vs Dos Santos - Brock Lesnar suffers a recurring stomach illness and has to pull out. Shane Carwin (originally slated to fight Jon Einemo), steps up to fight Dos Santos.
  • UFC on Versus: Marquardt vs Story - if you have followed Marquardt's situation, it's that he failed a pre-fight medical, due to testosterone replacement therapy, AKA he's been roiding and looking for an excuse out. Nate Marquardt is replaced by Charlie Brenneman and they become the co-main event. Kongo vs Barry becomes the main event.
  • UFC 132: Penn vs Fitch II - both guys withdraw due to injury, Faber and Cruz become main event.
  • UFC 133: Jones vs Evans - This one is just complicated. During Jon Jones fight with Shogun, Jones apparently injures his hand, forcing him to pull out of the Evans fight. He finds out that he can still fight, but instead he will be fighting Rampage at a later date. Then the main event turned into Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis, but Davis gets injured and pulls out. Now Evan's opponent will be Lyoto Machida.

What is up with all the injuries, sheesh.

Steam Summer Sales coming to an end

The annual summer sales event for Steam has sadly come to end, but my wallet is probably pretty happy right now. Over the course of June 30th-July 10th, Valve and other publishers have offered us gamers some great discounts.

The question I'm posing for my readers is:
1. Did you participate in the summer sales? and 2. What games did you buy?

Here's my 'damage report':
  • Audiosurf
  • Beat Hazard
  • Deus Ex GotY (seriously an awesome game)
  • Elder Scrolls Oblivion GotY
  • GTA IV GotY
  • Guild Wars
  • Just Cause 2
  • Killing Floor
Should get plenty of time from these games!

Fedor Emelianenko - Career Highlights

Since I did a highlight post of Dan Henderson, I thought it was only fitting to do a Fedor post next. If you didn't know already, those two will be fighting July 30th.

Fedor Emelianenko
MMA Record: 31 wins - 3 losses - 1 No Contest
  • Knockouts: 8
  • Submissions: 16
  • Decisions: 6
Notable Ranks: Grand Master in Sambo
Notable Wins: Andrei Arlovski, Tim Sylvia, Mark Coleman, Mirko 'CroCop', Antonio Nogueria

At one point in his career, Fedor Emelianenko, was unofficially undefeated. His career record was 31-1, with the one loss due to a doctor stoppage on cuts. As he tore through Pride in what many think was his career prime, he was considered by many the best MMA fighter in the world.

Times have changed for Fedor though, as he has dropped two fights in a row to good competition. His first true loss came to a triangle choke to Fabricio Werdum, and his 2nd was a brutal TKO loss to Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva. He faces a fellow legend, Dan Henderson, in what could be a deciding fight for his career.

Dan Henderson - Highlight GIFs

I've been thinking about doing some posts where there will be GIFs of best KOs/submissions/slams etc. of a particular fighter. How would you guys like that, should I stick with the idea?

Dan Henderson is one of the all time greats in MMA. Known for his wrestling credentials, huge KO power, and iron jaw/will, he's one of the fan favorites of the MMA world.

Possibly my favorite KO of all time
Dan Henderson had a beef with Michael Bisping during their time coaching the TUF. As most people already knew, Henderson has big knockout power, and he knocked Michael Bisping out with a punch that was thrown from last week. He's not big on pre-fight trash talking so it made it so much sweeter for me (Bisping is a huge trash talker).
