In the past we've all been treated to some nice UFC cards, especially UFC 132. However, I can't help but notice that there seems to be some kind of injury or health related curse that has fallen on the sport. Here's a look at some of the main events that have been cancelled recently.
- UFC 128: Shogun vs Evans - Rashad Evans injures his knee, Jon Jones (now LHW champion) steps in versus Shogun
- UFC Fight Night 24: Ortiz vs Nogueira - Tito Ortiz receives a severe cut on his forehead during training and has to pull out from his fight. Phil Davis steps in and wins.
- UFC 130: Edgar vs Maynard III - Both Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard are injured and pull out. It looks like the co-main event Rampage vs Thiago Silva will become the main event but THEN Silva gets injured. The event is then headlined UFC 130: Rampage vs Hamill.
- UFC 131: Lesnar vs Dos Santos - Brock Lesnar suffers a recurring stomach illness and has to pull out. Shane Carwin (originally slated to fight Jon Einemo), steps up to fight Dos Santos.
- UFC on Versus: Marquardt vs Story - if you have followed Marquardt's situation, it's that he failed a pre-fight medical, due to testosterone replacement therapy, AKA he's been roiding and looking for an excuse out. Nate Marquardt is replaced by Charlie Brenneman and they become the co-main event. Kongo vs Barry becomes the main event.
- UFC 132: Penn vs Fitch II - both guys withdraw due to injury, Faber and Cruz become main event.
- UFC 133: Jones vs Evans - This one is just complicated. During Jon Jones fight with Shogun, Jones apparently injures his hand, forcing him to pull out of the Evans fight. He finds out that he can still fight, but instead he will be fighting Rampage at a later date. Then the main event turned into Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis, but Davis gets injured and pulls out. Now Evan's opponent will be Lyoto Machida.
What is up with all the injuries, sheesh.

Interesting post!
Pretty convincing there might be a curse.
awwww. well i ca't say i am surprised. this ain't the easiest sport out there. being healthy and physicaly superior is a must
It looks like Machida is refusing to fight now, likely because he hasn't trained in 2 months. Sadly, it looks like Evans will have to wait to fight. It's in his best interests to just wait and fight later. It's a shame that he's been so inactive the last 15 months.
I guess Tito accepted the fight. It'd be remarkable if he could take out Rashad.
@braumaman.. wow talk about a turn of events. I saw that Tito declined earlier talking about making the right decisions in his career now, and then reports of Machida. Would've loved to see Rashad do the stanky leg twice lol
Great review!
Oh man it seems there wont be any fighters left soon lol
Well I do hope it turns for the better and we can enjoy some quality ass kicking :D
Love UFC !!
