Main Event
-Jake Ellenberger def. Jake Shields via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 0:53 -
Ellenberger gets the upset victory as he takes down Shields less than a minute into the first round... very surprising. I also felt really bad for Shields because his dad died 3 weeks before this fight. IMO, Shields is way undersized at 170 (no idea why he decided to drop down), he needs to beef back up to 185.
Main Bouts (On Spike TV)
-Court McGee def. Dongi Yang via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-28) -
This was pretty bad. Both guys decided to just jab and throw the occasional power punch once in awhile. The action didn't pick up until the 3rd round when Yang rocked McGee with a left.
-Erik Koch def. Jonathan Brookins via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)-
What to say about this fight.... it SUCKED. It was awful. Brookins only gameplan was to try to stall against the fence. Koch was the far superior striker and showed great takedown defense as Brookins spent the ENTIRE fight trying to take him down via the cage. Too bad that didn't impress the judges, as Koch won. I think this was one of the few times that I have been thrilled with the judging. No gifs because of how bad the fight was.
-Alan Belcher def. Jason MacDonald via verbal submission (punches) - Round 1, 3:48
-Alan Belcher def. Jason MacDonald via verbal submission (punches) - Round 1, 3:48
MacDonald was coming off an injury when he won by triangle choke in his previous match. Alan Belcher was coming off a detached retina and this was his first fight in 16 months. Belcher's return was quick and relentless, as he TKO'd MacDonald.
