Bellator 48 - Results and GIFs

Bellator 48 took place last night and ended it Summer Series. The next season of Bellator will begin to air September 10th, so don't miss out! Last night's fights had a couple of finishes, including a highlight reel headkick KO.

Featherweight Tournament Final
Pat Curran defeats Marlon Sandro via KO (Round 2, 4:00)
This fight was a very good match up. An aggressive, heavy-handed striker (with good BJJ credentials), versus a technical, well-rounded counter puncher. Sandro was definitely taking it to Pat Curran, bloodying up his eye. That was until Sandro got too wild and Curran landed a BEAUTIFUL head kick that sent Sandro to the canvas.

Heavyweight Feature Fights
Cole Konrad defeats Paul Buentello via decision (Unanimous; 30-27, 29-28, 30-27) -
Another interesting match up with unexpected results. Paul Buentello is known for his KO power, while Konrad is known for his wrestling. Buentello bragged that noone wanted to stand with him, however, he was actually getting beat on the feet in the 1st round, and got dropped (or maybe slipped) in the 3rd. The fight was pretty lackluster, as are most Konrad fights, but he was dominant throughout.

Seth Petruzelli defeats Ricco Rodriguez via TKO (Ref Stoppage; 1st Round, 4:21)
This fight was at a catchweight of 230lbs. Ricco is a former UFC HW champion, and Petruzelli is known as the guy who beat Kimbo Slice in 14 seconds. Petruzelli did a good job keeping the distance and caught Ricco coming in with a huge punch and followed up with brutal hammerfists.

Lightweight Televised Feature
Rene Nazare defeats Juan Barrantes via TKO (Doc. Stoppage; 2nd Round, 5:00) -
Nazare shows off his extreme well roundedness and ends the fight via doctors stoppage. Barrantes' eye was closed shut so the doctor had no choice to stop it.

Local Feature Fights
Saul Almedia defeats Tateki Matsuda via decision (Unanimous; 30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Ryan Quinn defeats Brett Oteri via technical submission (Choked Unconscious; 1st Round, 1:49)
Andrew Calandrelli defeats Matt Nice via submission (Key Lock; 1st Round, 3:55)
Nik Fekete defeats Mark Griffin via TKO (Ref Stoppage; 2nd Round, 3:12)
Dan Cramer defeats Jeff Nader via TKO (Ref Stoppage; 3rd Round, 1:04)

Are the referees pro fighters as well? They all look pretty staunch.
