UFC 133 - Results and GIFs

After so many injuries leading up to this card, we finally had our anticipated matchup: Rashad Evans vs Tito Ortiz. Now many people believed that Tito Ortiz was 'back' after beating TUF prospect Ryan Bader, but I had my doubts. Anyways, 133 turned out to be a decent card, the main card was exciting but the FB prelims were a bit dull.

Main Card (Live on PPV)

Rashad Evans def. Tito Ortiz via TKO (strikes) - Round 2, 4:48 -
Rashad Evans has been waiting for nearly 14 months to get a fight in, and in that time it was obvious that he spent it getting into the best shape of his life, and it showed. In the 1st round he got into some wild exchanges with Tito, after Tito had pressed Rashad up against the fence. Rashad got a huge slam in after that. In the 2nd, Tito went for a guillotine and a rolling leg lock but couldn't finish. Rashad had him in a vunerable position, kneed him in the solar plexus and finished Tito off with strikes.
Vitor Belfort def. Yoshihiro Akiyama via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 1:52 -
Akiyama really hasn't had an easy time in the UFC, facing decent opponents back to back. This time he got matched up with heavy handed Vitor Belfort. Vitor gave Akiyama a flurry that send him to the canvas KO'd. There was some controversy around this because of the blatant shots to the back of the head that Vitor was throwing.

Constantinos Philippou def. Jorge Rivera via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
This was a decent fight. Rivera got rocked early in the fight and somehow reversed the position and started his own ground n pound. But a lot of the fight consisted of cage clinching.

Rory MacDonald def. Mike Pyle via TKO (punches) - Round 1, 3:54 -
Rory MacDonald has been an outstanding prospect, and Saturday night he proved yet again that he has some serious potential by making short work of Mike Pyle.

Brian Ebersole def. Dennis Hallman via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 4:28 -
Ebersole continues to impress. I don't think Dennis Hallman was impressing Dana White with his speedos though haha. Hallman took Ebersole's back early in the fight, but got reversed and finished by ground n pound. Dana White gave Ebersole a $70,000 bonus for beating Hallman because Dana hated Hall's shorts :P

Preliminary Bouts (Televised on  Spike TV)

-Alexander Gustafsson def. Matt Hamill via TKO (punches) - Round 2, 3:34
-Chad Mendes def. Rani Yahya via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Preliminary Bouts (Streamed via Facebook)

-Ivan Menjivar def. Nick Pace via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
-Johny Hendricks def. Mike Pierce via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
-Mike Brown def. Nam Phan via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-28)
-Rafael Natal def. Paul Bradley via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

That fight made me sad. I hate Rashad. Good to see Vitor bounce back though.

Oof, the knee to the solar plexus looked like it hurt.

I thought Tito would peter out.

Well, Tito surely got beaten in a nasty region. Solar pluxus' injuries may reveal themselves in a matter of days. Even causing a heart stop.
